Within this role, you will execute process improvement and innovation activities throughout Global Procurement using your Lean expertise to optimise in areas of supply chain value, quality and speed to market. To execute this you will work in conjunction with a number of teams including the Improvement & Innovation, Procurement Leadership and Category teams.
The key areas of focus for the role are:
Proactive Supplier Enabled Innovation – which will involve working with key suppliers, senior managers in AstraZeneca as well as using external support from 3rd parties. You will be responsible for identifying and governing Supplier Enabled Improvement & Innovation activities using Lean methodologies as required.
Proactive Supplier Management – working with teams within AstraZeneca and externally you will support the roll out and executive of supplier management across AstraZeneca.
Reactive Flexible Support – you will also support other key projects and activities to identify innovation and support continuous improvement initiatives across Global Procurement.
In this role you will lead and drive the execution of an improvement and innovation programme across AstraZeneca utilising your Lean experience. Working closely with third party suppliers, you will deploy Lean techniques and processes across AstraZeneca in addition to key suppliers to maximise innovation and internal process improvement. You will also develop a Strategy and a Plan and to deliver continuous improvement across a strategic portfolio of identified suppliers.
You will be required to work with Leadership Teams to align strategic improvement projects and activities to Business drivers, and ensure associated benefits are realised and evident to the Business. You will also need to demonstrate successful adoption and application of Lean tools and concepts throughout key supplier relationships.
You will implement, champion and embed standard and effective Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis methodologies and visual management systems, and work with key stakeholders across AstraZeneca to demonstrate standard methodology in Lean and similar techniques.
A key part of the role will be to ensure that you raise the overall Procurement capability relating to all aspects of identifying and executing improvement and innovation initiatives, through the delivery of learning interventions and coaching/mentoring
You will encourage the implementation of supplier management across AstraZeneca and work with key stakeholders to demonstrate best practice in supplier management to ensure that it is aligned and managed effectively against other similar AstraZeneca initiatives
You will be required to work closely with the Improvement and Innovation team to establish and accomplish demand and create a portfolio of prioritised activities to drive continuous improvement, and by transferring your knowledge through training, coaching and mentoring and helping to support development and execution of functional Lean plans relative to Global Procurement.
Successful relationship management will be key to success in this role and you will need to understand and effectively maintain the relationships between Procurement, suppliers and business stakeholders to support delivery of aligned objectives. You will build and exploit an appropriate network within and outside AstraZeneca to inform and influence innovation in Procurement
Degree or equivalent professional qualification – equivalent experience will be taken into consideration
Knowledge of Lean principles; and experience as a practitioner.
Experience of working in a global, complex, multinational business
Exposure/experience of supply chain management and/or supplier development including VA/VE, Lean methodologies and tools (Kaizen etc) in a large, complex multinational organisation
Proven ability to lead multiple projects/tasks effectively
Strong background of delivery and execution against significant time and resource pressures
Ability to use a wide range of influencing techniques
Ability to engage and interact effectively with senior business leaders in and outside AstraZeneca
Energetic and self-motivated
Demonstrated success working in a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Oral and written fluency in Business English
Expertise in the application of analytical problem-solving methodology
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
