Job Title: PPI (Practical Process Improvement) Manager (Country PPI Leader)

Do you want to drive or learn to drive change and transformation? This role requires teaching and institutionalizing the lean fundamentals, such as visual management/5S, value stream mapping, standard work, metric boards, daily accountability, and leading strategy deployment sessions, in addition to facilitating process mapping and kaizen events. You will also be involved with senior level coaching and project funnel management. You will be responsible for developing organizational capability in these areas by training teams, implementing solutions with them, and providing coaching through the events.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive and sustain a strong continuous improvement culture

  • Build a strong continuous improvement culture with the Japan Leadership Team, PPI Core Team, Regional PPI Leadership Team, and Corporate PPI Team to accelerate change and embed the Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System for Japan.

  • Promote and demonstrate PPI culture through actual problem solving and by applying PPI in projects and daily operations.

  • Develop problem solving capability and continuous improvement within the organization at all levels.

  • Train, coach, and collaborate with sponsors, project champions, and various teams and functions to ensure improvements are sustainable and the stakeholders can run the processes independently.

  • Identify PPI best practices within Thermo Fisher and serve as a conduit for sharing and promoting best-practices.

  • Develop an internal PPI resource (both full-time and non-full-time) pipeline and PPI advocates for ensuring a sustainable and effective PPI Business System.

  • Deliver results through PPI projects, communicate PPI success and events, lead PPI steering team meetings, and also represent PPI at quarterly Town Hall Meetings.

  • Own and manage the PPI project pipeline to meet or exceed company goals related to PPI savings and productivity.

  • Support Commercial and Functional leaders and their teams to resolve various challenges, such as revenue or profit improvement, EIS (Employee Involvement Survey) related projects, and strategy deployment, utilizing tools, such as X-matrix and KPI Bowlers.

  • Support the country leader to successfully implement key strategic initiatives, goal tree bowlers, and key metrics to meet short and long term goals.

  • Help drive CAS (Customer Allegiance Score) improvement activities and initiatives.

  • Drive/Support CAS improvements through collaboration and engagement with Japan CAS team and Commercial and Functional leaders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with changing organizational behavior, way of thinking, and culture.

  • Interpersonal skills, and the ability to connect with and positively influence leadership and all levels of the organization.

  • Experience leading or managing a continuous improvement program for a Company, Business Unit, Division, or Function.

  • Formal lean training and comprehensive knowledge of lean and continuous improvement methodologies and tools.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Supply Chain, or Business (or other relevant degree)

  • Fluency in Japanese and English, in addition to excellent communication and presentations skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma certification or black belt

  • PPI Process Manager Certification (Internal)

  • Detailed knowledge of quality theory and lean tools and methodologies

  • Project management experience and leadership

  • Experience in a commercial setting or environment

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Powerpoint, Excel, Visio, and MS Project)
