Amentum Aircraft Worker/Washer in Tokyo, Japan

Amentum is hiring a qualified Aircraft Worker / Washer in support of Kadena Air Base, 18th EMSS.

The Aircraft Worker/Washer makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker, assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems, removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings, bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines, This worker may supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments; obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples, may perform pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed, and services engines and aircraft components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition. Comply with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control programs. Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility, and job assignment. Obtain and maintain required government / company owned Ground Support Equipment licenses while assigned as an Aircraft Washer. Utilize two-way communication equipment as required.

Additional Qualifications Corrosion Control: Aircraft Workers/Washers perform aircraft wash and corrosion control work. These duties may include the application of aircraft soaps to cleanse aircraft outer surfaces, aircraft lubrication applications, identification of corrosion or paint defects, mechanical sanding of surface coatings, and/or minor application of exterior paints to aircraft. They may also assist aircraft mechanics. This mechanic can issue tools if needed in the absence of supply technician.

PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIROMENT:

May require the use of respirator. Requires shift work and a diversity of working conditions that may range from standard shop type environment where there may be no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes in temperature, direct sunlight, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work where high noise hazards prevail. Will be required to wear protective clothing and other safety equipment during periods of extreme hot and cold temperatures. Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on the Material Safety Data Sheets, working on or around aircraft and machinery. Aircraft flight line, hangars, and maintenance shops. Able to physically operate aircraft ground servicing equipment including vehicles, tugs, tractors, and high-pressure soap and water systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance. (Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance.)

  • May be required to complete a SF-85/86 in EQIP as required to maintain possession of a CAC card. Unfavorable background check may result in termination if determination is made you are not eligible for a CAC card.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  • Three (3) years of job-related experience.

  • Must be able to work all assigned shifts & schedules.

  • Must have a US Passport.

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with normal operational safety requirements, working on and around aircraft and ground support equipment.

  • Capable of comprehending written and oral instructions for the use of aircraft cleaning equipment.
