Philips (Sr.) System Architect in Shenzhen, China

Your role:

As system architect you will defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision across multiple product families and projects within the Grooming & Beauty business to ensure the systems or solutions under development are fit for its intended purpose.

  • Together with the program manager and category lead you will translate the long term business strategy into consumer benefit driven propositions for the local and global market, based on existing Grooming & Beauty reference architecture;

  • Delivering a consolidated (reference) architecture by creating well defined building blocks, system options and scenarios and choosing the optimal architecture for the business

  • Drives strategic harmonization, modular design and reuse-initiatives within Grooming & Beauty and leverages within Personal Health (e.g. integrated solutions, strategic cross business technology and platform harmonization, common building blocks, product family alignment and scoping, architectural integration selection of strategic technologies, establishing control points and IP);

  • Participates in the definition of the Grooming & Beauty Reference Architecture & Technology roadmap/program

  • Plan and develop the Architectural Runway in support of new business Features and Capabilities and resolves key technical impediments.

  • End-responsible for the accepted implementation of the defined architecture.

You're the right fit if: (4 x bullets max)

  • Master’s Degree and relevant experience in a leading tech-company with at least 5 years of progressive related work experience, preferably in an architect role in a product/systems engineering context, preferably in a consumer electronics company;

  • Proven teamwork, including ability to work effectively across organizational and geographic boundaries, building bridges between teams;

  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing development teams and stakeholders in a global, multi-location organization;

  • Architecture skills based on high quality delivery of solutions that include a breadth of hardware (mechatronics) as well as software understanding;

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

  • Multiyear experience covering multiple domains, complex systems (e.g. distributed systems), and multiple technology areas; Health care and medical product experience a definite advantage;

  • Understand and able to deal with the differences and tensions between the ODM model and in-house model

  • Ability to shape direction and deal with uncertainties;

  • Inquisitive mindset to get to the real research questions, and creativity to find an answer;

  • Strong communicator who understands the target audience.

  • If selected you will be taking on a variety of topics such as: cutting elements hardware, batteries, motors, connectivity chips/firmware, materials, colors, finishing, packaging, life cycle cost, etc. You will be the all-round ‘spider in the web’ and will have the opportunity to be involved with a wide variety of topics across businesses.
