Job Description

The opportunity

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for credit reviews for all mainland China issuers at both sectors and specific company level. Support to provide credit opinion independent of first line.

  • Full responsibility for credit approval for MSL fixed income investment up to delegated approval authority, and escalate for and seek higher approval authorities from regional or head office as needed.

  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of the credit approval, and consultation with Head of Credit Asia.

  • Ensure adherence to the group credit policies and procedures. Align MFC Global Investment Guidelines to MSL.

  • Assist in Quarterly Loan Review and related reporting.

  • Ensure adherence to all local regulatory standards and requirements.

  • Act as the 2nd line of defense for Credit risk management in MSL.

  • Assist the CRO to manage credit quality of existing portfolio ensuring companies are followed on a regular basis and that major credit events are properly assessed, annual reviews are completed, and internal credit ratings are up to date and accurate. Where applicable, ensure an oversight on compliance with all financial/legal covenants.

  • Review assessments performed on any proposed credit methodologies, country review, stress tests and any ad hoc requests from Head Office.

  • Support in reviewing / assessing new investment product proposals.

  • Support implementation of GA Credit Policies.

  • Assist to monitor the credit limit utilization/excess capacity, and advise on the necessary internal approvals.

  • Coordinate with first line on enquiries from head office/Regional Office on credit related issues.

  • Assist in daily management of the Credit Analytics Teams (based in Manila).

  • Provide feedback on the enquiries from head office on the investment portfolios details.

  • Lead and participate in other ad-hoc projects/requests as needed.

What we are looking for

  • University graduate, preferably in Finance or Business Administration. Professional degree preferred, including CFA or CPA.

  • Minimum 15 years relevant experience in banking, or other financial institutions, including at least 10 years of credit approval experience with sizable delegated authority.

  • Solid institutional credit analysis skills

  • Strong knowledge of the mainland China credit markets

  • Fluent in English and Mandarin preferred, and strong English writing skill

  • Mature and disciplined personality with strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong business and financial management skills
