AstraZeneca’s Centre for Genomics Research (CGR) is now looking for a Business Analyst to support the growing data, informatics and analytics capabilities of the Centre. The Centre was launched in April 2016 and has the bold ambition to analyse up to two million genomes by 2026. Using genomics data and state-of-the-art methods for genomic analysis, CGR will investigate underlying genetic causes of disease and integrate genomics across the entire drug discovery and development platform. This work is fundamental to driving the discovery of novel precision medicines.
In this role, you will be part of a dynamic team in CGR’s multidisciplinary genomics research environment. You will be responsible for identifying and documenting requirements related to the Centre’s growing and evolving informatics and data analytics capabilities. You will work alongside bioinformaticians, genome analysts and software scientists to ensure that business objectives are clearly documented, and that project activities are aligned to deliver the expected business value. You will interact with therapeutic area project leads and genome analysts to understand study requirements and contribute to preparing analytic plans and internal and external scientific reports.
Entry-level, recent graduates and persons with a strong scientific background in genomics whose intention is to develop a career in business analysis are also encouraged to apply.

Gather and document requirements for delivery of genome informatics and analytics projects
Identify business requirements and objectives and translate these into ‘user stories’ for new genome analytic and informatic capabilities
Contribute to project planning and prioritisation
Contribute to analytics planning and documenting the project
Supporting the preparation of research findings for internal and external scientific communication
Ensuring own work, and work of team, is compliant with Good Laboratory Practice, Safety, Health and Environment standards and all other internal AstraZeneca standards and external regulations
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
Ability to understand complex scientific problems and break them down into manageable work packages
Ability to prioritize, problem-solve and perform difficult tasks while managing conflicting schedules/projects.
Ability to proficiently communicate with team members and non-experts, both verbally and through documentation
Interest in the potential of genomics to impact drug discovery
Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work within a team in a quickly evolving environment
BSc degree (or equivalent experience) in a scientific field of research, including but not limited to: biosciences, bioinformatics or other field with strong component of DNA or RNA analysis
Previous experience working with patients’ data in a regulated, clinical research environment (incl. but not limited to EU privacy regulations, informed consent, Good Clinical Practice)
Experience with JIRA or other project management and requirement tracking system
Business Analysis qualification (e.g. IIBA or BCS)
Experienced in agile delivery of projects
Experience developing and deploying data analytics solutions in pharmaceutical environment
