The Site Facilities and Engineering team is responsible for the operation and the life cycle management of the Operational and Facilities systems and assets. Through effective system ownership and a continuous improvement environment, working in self-directed teams, the group provides safe, reliable and compliant delivery and operation of Philadelphia Operations, Facilities, FG Warehouses and the associated GMP environment

The Facility/Sr. Facility Engineer is responsible for the following:

  • Accountability for delivering maintenance excellence activities across assigned facilities and utility systems to deliver both cost savings and energy reductions

  • Development of assigned system(s) Master Plans to tie in with overall Site Infrastructure Master Plan, Operational objectives, and Asset Life Cycle Management

  • Delivering on capital upgrades to Facilities and Utilities systems as either the assigned Project Manager and/or the Customer/System Owner

  • Utilizing appropriate contracting strategies with OSPs to deliver value improvements for the business in both maintenance and capital project arenas

  • As System Owner for assigned systems, this role will deliver maintenance excellence across assigned system, key aspects of role include accountability for:System technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), Interface with Regulatory Agencies and Internal AZ Auditors; including understanding and ownership of applicable inspection deliverables, Expense management and cost savings opportunities, Sustainability initiatives on Systems, Optimization of PM program including creation, scheduling frequency and Conditioned Based Maintenance Program, Conducting failure analysis’ to identify improvement opportunities, Conducting spare parts evaluation, Deviation investigations, CAPA mitigation, and resolution, System process capability ownership

  • Establishment and maintenance of System MEPs; including clear, visible, and sustained system health checks

  • Design documentation ownership including, SOP’s, CMCs, drawings, etc.

  • As the Change Leader, ensure that equipment is maintained in a validated state; including management and delivery of applicable OCM Change Control activities (i.e. MBRs, SOPs, etc.)

  • Provides input to, and actively participates, in the annual product and periodic validation review process

  • Execute Capital Projects on assigned systems by business case development, project execution plans, project proposals, EP’s, and IP’s - assessing site strategy and providing overall life cycle management and cost-benefit analysis

  • Responsible for managing A&E firms and Contractors, as required, to meet project and budgetary expectations

  • Ensuring projects are designed and installed in compliance with all company standards, SOP policies and guidelines. All design and construction complies with all Regulatory Agencies, Safety, Health and Environmental codes and regulations

  • Ensuring projects activities progress smoothly, coordinating activities with PET to ensure minimal impact to production providing sustainable results

  • Managing start up, commissioning and qualification requirements

  • Ensuring as built drawings and documentation is completed and SAP system updated with asset information

  • Managing capital projects costs, consistent with the current financial guidelines and requirements for spend and depreciation forecasting

  • Working closely with Mechanics and Technicians to develop a self-directed work team approach to system ownership

  • Ensuring technical training plans are in place and implemented for mechanics and technicians for assigned systems and capital projects

  • As business needs dictate, requirement to work second, third and weekend shifts to ensure full coverage/oversight for the team and to engage all personnel in product launches, continuous improvement, system ownership, site shutdown activities, and mechanic and technician work team activities

Senior Facility Engineer has the following additional responsibilities

  • Provides complete Subject Matter Expertise in at least one area of facilities/utilities specialization while progressively developing other areas of specialization needed to deliver life cycle assessments and strategy recommendations for the business.

  • Lead, manage and execute complex projects (capital and non-capital)

  • Lead and conduct complex Technical Investigations

  • Influence range of stakeholders including PETs and Site Management

  • As Contract Owner, develop and promote support strategies for key OEMs

  • Provide technical perspective during internal and external audits, regulatory inspections and due diligence


Facilities Engineer



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline


  • Training or experience in Facilities and Utilities systems such as USP Water, HVAC, Boiler Technology, Compressed Air, Automated Warehouse Systems, Facilities & Utilities Operation and Maintenance, Capital Project Delivery & Project Management, Sustainability & Energy reduction technologies and processes, Equipment/System/Project/Process Life Cycle, Management and Execution including project management (schedule, sanction, spend, and stakeholders)

  • Solid organization, problem solving and decision-making

  • Solid team work and communication skills (oral and written)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)


  • Advanced technical degree or professional certification

  • Experienced in working in a Lean environment

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment; driving team and personal accountability

  • Working knowledge of TDMS, SAP, OCM, TrakSys

Senior Facilities Engineer


In addition to Facilities Engineer requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Infrastructure Master Planning: Facilities and Utilities systems such as USP Water, HVAC, Boiler Technology, Compressed Air, Automated Warehouse Systems, Facilities & Utilities Operation and Maintenance, Capital Project Delivery & Project Management, Sustainability & Energy reduction technologies and processes, Equipment & system qualification for GMP critical utilities

  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership and project management skills

  • Experience interacting with regulatory authorities and knowledge of cGMPs and FDA policies/procedures

  • Solid organization, problem solving, project- management, decision-making, judgment, leadership, management, and team-oriented skills are essential

  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects

  • Solid communication skills (oral and written) are required to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and various functional areas

  • Proven ability to work in a global environment to deliver standardization across the business


  • Application of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project) for project delivery

  • Advanced technical degree or professional certification

  • Expertise in one area of specialization

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification and / or experience working in a Lean operational environment

  • Ability to work effectively as a leader of technical personnel and /or member of cross-functional technical or global team

  • Experience working in a Lean environment

  • Application of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project) for project delivery

  • Working knowledge of TDMS, SAP, OCM, TrakSys
