The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Join our dynamic team at the Structural Heart & Valve Center (Valve Center) as a Physician Assistant (PA). In this role, you will collaborate with an established team of PAs in a rapidly evolving sector of cardiology. This position offers significant growth opportunities and is ideal for someone with two to five years of experience in their career.

The PA will primarily work in the structural heart clinic two days a week, functioning as an integral part of the Heart Team. Duties include assessing patients with structural heart disease, such as aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve disorders, conducting medical histories, and coordinating patient care with the catheterization lab or operating room. Additionally, the PA will provide support to patients and families throughout the evaluation, procedure, and post-procedural phases. Cross-training opportunities in other roles, both inpatient and outpatient, are also available.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct chart reviews before clinic days and assist in summarizing patient information.
  • Educate patients and families about conditions and treatment options, including associated risks.
  • Perform inpatient consultations and participate in rounds with the Heart Team on the inpatient floor.
  • Review pre-procedural and post-operative test results, communicating findings to patients and families.
  • Assist in discharge planning and conduct follow-up visits with patients.
  • Participate in weekly coordination of care meetings and develop referral pathways.
  • Facilitate hospital admissions and transfers as needed.
  • Maintain the database of patients undergoing transcatheter procedures (TAVR, TMVR, Mitral-TEER, Tricuspid-TEER, PVL Closure, TTVR).
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program, with at least two years of hospital experience.
  • Current New York State PA license and NCCPA Board Certification.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, DEA, and NPI certificates.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both independently and within a team setting.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and professionalism.
  • Experience in managing complex schedules.

Other Requirements

  • Participation in Medical Surveillance Program
    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
