The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Estimator is responsible for performing the full range of inspection, planning and estimation for repair, alteration and minor painting, masonry systems, but will also be assigned to other shop duties.

Responsibilities

  • Must determine amount and type of materials needed by each shop for work orders.
  • Estimate total man-hours required by shop using performance standards, historical data and the application of knowledge acquired as a craft worker.
  • Prepare cost estimate, sketch and specification for work orders.
  • Provides technical and another information to shop personnel in the daily performance of their work.
  • Checks on deliveries of materials ordered to insure availability and assemble all materials form stockroom for current scheduled work orders.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing within the Campus Maintenance Department. (Will perform as an "A" trade's person in shop of experience as may be required by his/her immediate supervisor).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or its equivalent.
  • Five years experience in one or more of the building craft trades.
  • Must be able to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprint and construction to modification to specification.
  • Shall be skilled in the use of all hand and power tools used by locksmiths and shall have a City of New York Locksmith and Keymaker License.
