Position Summary/Description:

The Institute for Trauma Recovery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is looking for a data analyst/statistician. This individual will work with a collaborative team of investigators to perform both relatively simple (linear and logistic regression) and advanced (e.g., advanced biomarker analyses using machine learning) statistical analyses to gain new discoveries to help trauma survivors. This analysis work will include analyses of diverse longitudinal data collected as part of the $35 million dollar AURORA study. This study, funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and private and foundation partners, enrolled individuals presenting to a large network of emergency department in the immediate aftermath of trauma. Study participants were followed longitudinally for one year, beginning in the hours after trauma, using sophisticated adaptive sampling methods and state-of-the-art battery of self-report, neurocognitive, physiologic, digital phenotype, psychosocial, neuroimaging, and genomic markers. In addition to analyses of these data, the statistician will also analyze data from longitudinal data collected as part of many other past and current observational studies going on in the institute, as well as the analysis of clinical trial data.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of a relevant Master’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) preferred. Ideal candidates will have a PhD in a social, applied, or related science discipline, demonstrated ability as a scientific writer, demonstrated ability to perform advanced statistical analyses and learn and perform statistical analyses new to them, expert knowledge of R and other software packages; and the ability to collaborate effectively on multidisciplinary teams. Master’s degree with extensive experience will be considered.
