Our expectations:

Structural Systems engineers are responsible for load, deflection and stress analysis and experimental testing of gas turbine engines and sub-systems from the early concept phase through certification and field service.

We have three main sub-discipline's in Structures Systems:

Structural Integration - support concept development of engine architecture, generate full engine system models for load, deflection and stress analysis, generate, document and manage static and dynamic loads, integrate the engine structure with the airframe.

Engine Impact Dynamics - utilize LS/Dyna to generate full engine models to predict engine system response to highly dynamic short duration impact events such as turbofan blade off, bird ingestion, hail impact and turboprop/shaft engine system response to stage blade off, shaft shear and overspeed.

Externals Stress Analysis - analyse, develop and test hardware designed within the externals module including engine mounts, composite aerostructures, tubes, support hardware, fairings, accessories, bleed systems and nacelle interfaces.

What your day to day will look like:

  • Load, deflection, stress and dynamic analysis using Ansys WB, Nastran, Hypermesh or LS/Dyna

  • Engine and rig test planning including instrumentation requirements, test sequence and post test data reduction and evaluation

  • LCF and HCF lifing of ECN hardware

  • Thermal Analysis, including transient fire attack analysis

  • Full engine system level modeling

  • Stress analysis of composite aerostructures

What you need to be successful:

Must haves:

  • Be eligible to work in Canada.

  • Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship.

  • Be able to work on-site in the province of Ontario.

  • Pursuing a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

  • Eight, twelve or sixteen month internships preferred.
