General Information:

James Madison University, a Division I member of the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference, the Duke Club is seeking an Assistant Director for Special Events and Donor Stewardship to work within a highly competitive program. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director of Special Events and Donor Stewardship will oversee, conceptualize, plan, and execute all special events. Will have oversight of donor stewardship and be able to assist in the design and execution of stewarding 5000+ donors as well as focusing on how to increase overall membership and contributions raised to the Proud and True Fund. * Conceptualize, plan, coordinate, manage and execute all aspects of donor engagement events including, but not limited to: o Friday Night Flights o Letterwinner Weekend o Duke Club Golf Classic o Coaches Caravan o Football/Basketball socials o Post-Season Tournaments (SBC, NCAA) * Coordinate and manage all aspects of event logistics and operations including, but not limited to: o Venue selection o Event logistics and operations (pre-event, during event, post-event) o Collaborate/coordinate with event registrants, sponsors, donors, etc. o Vendor contracts, product purchases, etc. o Develop and manage event ticket purchase/pricing plans o Budget management and evaluation of expenses vs revenues * Manage Duke Club stewardship operations including, but not limited to: o Duke Club membership benefits fulfillment (membership packet mailing) o Milestone acknowledgments o Exclusive membership program acknowledgments * Collaborate with University, Athletics and third-party partners including, but not limited to: o Procurement o Athletics Events and Operations o Aramark and off-site catering o Campus Events o Campus Facilities o On-the-road event facilit es, vendors, etc. * Representative for the Duke Club Office at weekly/bi-weekly meetings to provide updates and/or information to the rest of the Game Day Ops team if needed; relay important information to the Duke Club Team. * Potential to be a sport liaison to 2-3 sports for all fundraising efforts to specific sport that includes but isn't limited to communications, marketing, and Sport Specific Campaign (DigginDukes) that happens yearly. * Provide leadership and supervision of part-time staff, graduate assistant, and student interns. * Assist with all premium areas in Bridgeforth Stadium and Atlantic Union Bank Center for all basketball and football games. * Collaborate with Director of Internal Operations and MEC on all marketing, communications and branding content for donor engagement, events and stewardship * 20-30% of travel for football, basketball and any postseason play for teams included but not limited to o Duke Club Social events for fans, alumni and local community to attend the night before and/or day of the game. * Ticketed event(s) only; based off where the team is playing and the radius of alumni we have in the area * Venue selection * Event logistics and operations (pre-event, during event, post-event) * Collaborate/coordinate with event registrants, sponsors, donors, etc. * Vendor contracts, product purchases, etc. * Develop and manage event ticket purchase/pricing plans * Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required * Bachelor's degree * At least 1 year of event management, hospitality and/or customer service experience * Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal * Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required * Must be able to travel as required Preferred * Master's degree * 2 years of experience working in events and hospitality * Experience managing and hiring student staff * Experience working in events and hospitality in NCAA Division 1 athletics
