Boehringer Ingelheim Medical Science Liaison (Metabolism) in Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Position
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role is to support the strategic scientific direction of Boehringer Ingelheim with the provision of clinical and scientific information/data to health professionals via scientific exchanges/presentations, primarily with defined External Experts (EEs). These exchanges will provide the necessary background for health professionals to make good sound clinical decisions in the treatment of their patients, and allow the MSL to gain understanding of current treatment and management of patients locally.
Duties & Responsibilities
- EE interaction
Identify and interact with External Experts through credible and accurate medical/scientific exchanges of information and appropriately document the scientific exchanges
Identify new EEs and validate existing EEs to be included in the EE Management plan.
Perform EE development and build advocacy to BI
Convey expert clinical knowledge in face to face meetings, scientific events
Build discussion around HCP and patient care and needs and identify opportunities for BI
Gain contribution from EEs through participation of EEs in speaking engagements, advisory boards etc
- Building brand awareness
Assist HCPs in delivery of optimal medical care and adequate BI therapeutic solutions awareness, advocacy and usage
To provide creative solutions to address unmet medical needs of HCPs in collaboration with cross functional team
Support HCPs implement diagnostic and disease management guidelines
- Scientific knowledge dissemination
Interact with Scientific Experts through credible and accurate medical/scientific exchanges of information and appropriately document the scientific exchanges
Respond to medical information queries
To run medical information booths in scientific congresses
To update self with new data and publications relevant to TA to engage and share with HCP
Establish and provide scientific expertise on product and disease state knowledge through individual and group presentations of scientific information
- Cross functional sharing and support
Contribute to continuous knowledge development of brand, competitors, disease state, and overall therapeutic knowledge.
Attend/participate in scientific congresses/meetings
Participate and contribute in brand team meetings and Integrated Brand Plans
Share insights/ perspectives from HCPs to brand team to maximize medico-marketing plan effectiveness
Assist clinical operation teams to identify and suggest potential sites and investigators for BI global clinical trials
Proactively propose specific and tailored actions to maximize BI support to customers and patient needs
Training and support of field force
Assisting market access with dossier preparation
- Compliance
Perform all company business in accordance with all regulations and Company policies and procedures.
Ensure completion of LOS training on time
Demonstrate high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to maintain BI's excellent reputation
- Facilitate and support interaction between BI personnel in Medicine and Nonclinical Research and HCPs in the context of nonclinical investigational compounds or marketed products. Identify opportunities for potential external research collaboration. Facilitate and support interactions between BI and external investigators in the context of investigator initiated studies.
Requirements
Bachelor in Science, PhD in Science, Doctor of Medicine
Independent and proactive
People person, with good networking skills
Excellent team player
Strong product and TA knowledge
Good understanding of local laws and regulation
Ability to do public speaking and presentations, both for large audience and 1-1 setting
Highly creative and innovative
Fast and focused on delivering results
Ability to analyze, interpret, synthesize and clearly communicate medical data
