Role Overview:

The incumbent serves as a Seasonal State Worker at the INDOT Vincennes District Testing Department and will be responsible for assisting the Department with field investigations, transporting material samples, and documentation of material performance.

Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $15.00 an hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Location:

This position is located in INDOT’s Evansville Area.

A Day in the Life:

  • Assistant to the District Materials Engineer

  • Conduct Data Entry into Department Worksheets

  • Transport Samples from Suppliers/Producers to the District Testing Labs

  • Learn Testing Procedures and Material Evaluations

  • Document Material Performance for Communication with other Internal Departments.

  • Complies with INDOT Safety Policies and Procedures

  • Performs Miscellaneous Labor Tasks

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Valid high school diploma or GED preferred; or one (1) year of work experience.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods of time.

  • Computer experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
