We are seeking a Capability and Development Leader to drive training and development requirements for Finance that defines the type of skills and training needed to successfully support our strategic priorities. Areas such as working across boundaries, leveraging continuous improvement, agile thinking and integrating customer feedback early and often – our customer centricity mindset is key. We also want to help develop our finance specialists and grow in areas such as digital, data, change, and strategic business partnering. We need someone who is a finance and shared services expert who can understand the challenges and gaps in the function now and in the future, and who can bring the best of the industry to AZ.

Reporting to the GBS VP, you will initially focus on the design of the future ‘build’ capabilities of our function, as well as leading the delivery of existing programmes. Working on strategic workforce planning, you will be “build” focussed, tasked with the creation of GBS and Finance specific competency model and learning programmes that complement the globally provided solutions to build our greatest asset – our people. To be successful, you need to be a great networker and influencer to work closely with the Leadership team and COE’s to build and execute the plan.

It is anticipated that you will be expected to lead projects/initiatives in the following key areas:

  • Strategic Workforce Planning

  • Work with the Leadership team to identify future needs and trends for the ‘build’ elements of the plan.

  • Build & Implement designs

  • In partnership with programme team and HR, implement business development plans, supporting leadership team to drive a culture of personal development.

  • Target Culture

  • Work with functional unit leaders and HR to drive a high performing culture in support of a Great Place to Work

  • Working with communications & engagement teams to support the GBS culture

  • Capability Required & Ongoing Learning

  • Using change/gap impact analyses, create development initiatives for specific role communities (changes in role expectation, for example). Look to the industry to bring best practice solutions.

  • Create/source learning programme materials to provide ongoing learning support, for example:

  • Leadership/management behaviour

  • User process/systems training

  • Organisation know-how

Required experience:

  • Large scale, systemic capability development/culture programme experience

  • Experience of working in L&D in a global organisation

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including oral & written

  • Basic MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word skills

  • Personally motivated, with a bias for delivery

  • Experience delivering global learning and development courses.

  • Networking – external and internal to bring the best solutions to AZ

  • Experience of Finance or Shared Service team

Desirable experience:

  • Experience within the pharmaceuticals industry and of the drug development life cycle and commercial aspects of the industry

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and liaising with other senior managers

  • Use of/Exposure to general office and financial systems, e.g. SAP, Workplace, Saba Cloud

  • Strong MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word skills
