Today, we are recruiting for an Environmental & Social Coordinator to join our team in Egypt. This is an excellent career opportunity for professionals looking to join a truly international team in one of the biggest projects of Siemens Mobility.

What are my responsibilities?

  • Implement the Project Construction Environment and Social Management Plan (CESMP) including the project environment and social (E&S) policy.

  • Monitor compliance, whilst staying current with all applicable Project E&S regulations, standards, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Supervise and coordinate site inspections, carry out environmental audits and assessments, identify and resolve environmental problems, and ensure necessary changes are implemented.

  • Collect the E&S data and sampling, interpretation of measurement of results.

  • Review the environmental aspects of contract documents as well as monitor the environmental performance of contractor and subcontractor operations.

  • Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy, in addition to social aspects.

  • Provide follow-up information and update reports to the E&S Manager, as required.

  • Examining corporate activities and establishing where improvements can be made and ensuring compliance with E&S legislation and IFC requirements across the organization.

  • Create, implement, and monitor environmental and social strategies to promote sustainable development.

  • Work within a project consortium partnership E&S team.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environment or in Chemistry, Biology, or civil engineering with Environment-related experience or MSc in Environment is a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years of environmental and social experience, preferably in the mobility or railway industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, interpretations, and health and safety programs, local laws, and IFC requirements.

  • Experience in working on a financed project i.e. under IFC, EBRD, EIB, and WB criteria, is a major advantage.

  • Must understand the concept of management systems in general, and E&S management systems in particular.

  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues, and recommend solutions.

  • Experience in handling projects/tasks related to waste management, water conservation, and energy efficiency.

  • ISO:14001 certificated or experienced in leading/conducting audits and other environment-related audits.

  • Fluency in both writing and spoken English.

  • Proficiency in preparing and presenting environmental reports and presentations.

  • Reports directly to the E&S Managers working within the project Consortium EHS team.
