Amazon Digital Acceleration is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining a unique storage platform comprised of DynamoDB, Amazon DocumentDB, and S3. You will be responsible for building robust APIs to expose reads and writes to the storage, optimizing query execution for improved performance and cost efficiency, and contributing to the development of a centralized eventing system and its associated APIs and reporting mechanisms. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance within our systems.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain APIs for accessing and manipulating data stored in DynamoDB, Amazon DocumentDB, and S3.

• Optimize query execution to improve performance and reduce storage costs.

• Contribute to the development of a centralized eventing system, including designing APIs, implementing event processing logic, and generating reports.

• Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.

• Mentor other developers in the team, providing guidance on best practices, troubleshooting, and operational tasks.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• 5+ years of highly scalable systems experience

• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

• Strong troubleshooting and operational skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. Proven track record of mentoring and coaching junior developers. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
