Job Description:

Responsibilities
This position provides the opportunity to work on New York State's efforts to eliminate hepatitis C as a public health problem. The Health Program Coordinator I, located in the Bureau of Hepatitis Health Care and Epidemiology, will be responsible for the coordination and management of hepatitis C/ HIV related contracts including the Hepatitis C Care and Treatment Initiative, which supports primary care-based hepatitis C treatment, and the Innovative Models of Care Initiative, which supports hepatitis C treatment in nontraditional health care settings such as syringe service programs. The Health Program Coordinator I will be responsible for program coordination activities, fiscal review and oversight, site visits, and reviewing and interpreting relevant program data. The incumbent will help to coordinate regular provider calls and will engage in ongoing communication with and provide technical assistance to funded programs. The incumbent will also work closely with colleagues and organizations within and outside of the AIDS Institute on workgroups, planning committees, and projects related to eliminating hepatitis C and ending the AIDS epidemic in New York State.


Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of experience in program coordination in a public health, health, health regulatory, or human services related program; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.


Preferred Qualifications

At least one year of experience in program development and evaluation; contract and fiscal management; and/or the provision of technical assistance to service providers. Work experience with hepatitis C virus (HCV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/HCV coinfection, including HCV screening, prevention, care and treatment and the barriers associated with accessing health care services. Experience working with populations at risk for HCV, such as people who use drugs, people experiencing housing instability, or people involved with the criminal justice system. Ability to interpret data reports. Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). Experience planning and facilitating meetings.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
