The Opportunity

This position may work out of Abbott Park, IL or Willis Tower, Chicago, IL as part of our Corporate Finance function.

The Strategic Alliance Accounting and Accounting Policy Supervisor role is a very specialized role that supports the Strategic Alliance Accounting and Accounting Policy group which includes US GAAP Purchase Accounting for Licensing and Acquisition (L&A) activities, US GAAP Policy Research, CFM policy guidance, Goodwill and Intangibles Impairment testing and other functions.

The role also supports the RTR and FP&A functions for the valuation of US Inventory to Actual for US GAAP.

The role works closely with the Divisions, External Auditors, and External Valuation firms.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Support the US GAAP Purchase Accounting for Licensing & Acquisition (L&A) activities. Works closely with the External Auditors, External Valuation firms, and the Business partners.

  • Supports the pushdown of the Purchase Accounting valuation to the Legal Entities.

  • Conducts policy research from both internal and external standards.

  • Supports the overall process to update the Corporate Finance Manual (CFMs).

  • Supports Goodwill Impairment Testing.

  • Supports Intangible Impairment Testing.

  • Preparation of Consolidated Statements for Plans/ Rolling LBEs (RLBEs) /Actuals for Inventory Capitalization performed at Corporate.

  • Liaison and key contact person with Divisions for monitoring manufacturing variance capitalization.

  • Responsible for Inventory Verification Monitoring control for all US Operations.

  • Responsible for Global Environmental Reserve Accounting and Reporting.

  • Responsible for compiling the SEC 10K reporting for Property reporting and Environmental Liabilities Reporting.

  • Supports the monthly financial close process for Abbott’s investments that require equity method accounting.

  • Other Support Strategic Alliance Accounting and Accounting Policy group.

Position Accountability / Scope

The Supervisor role has contacts with both the Revenue Divisions and the Service Divisions. For the Purchase Accounting Functions, the role works closely with External Valuation firms, External Auditors, and the Business Partners.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA/ MSA and/ or CPA preferred.

  • 4 years of experience required.

  • Prior public accounting experience preferred. Cost accounting experience is a plus.

The base pay for this position is $83,000.00 – $166,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
